Project Management Services:

While each project is unique, there are usually many similarities within information

system projects. Most are served by a standard methodology, with the need to

identify user requirements, followed by design of a system, production of the

system, testing of the system, training and implementation and ultimately

maintenance of the system. These steps are not always serial, with many loops back

to prior stages.  Information systems offer a great deal to organizations, but they are inherently

risky. IS projects achieve one of the following three states:

1. Successful – the project is completed on time and on budget, with all features

and functions as originally specified

2. Challenged – the project is completed and operational, but over-budget, over

the time estimate and with fewer features and functions than initially

specified

3. Failed – the project is cancelled before completion

Research indicates that at least 30% of information technology-related projects are cancelled prior to completion.

HGC can provide project management following industry standard practices as the framework to apply our creativity and organizational excellence to ensure projects are Successful, HGC recognizes that project implementation requires a mastery of the technical aspects of systems along with understanding of key organizational and behavioral dynamics. HGC follows the Life Cycle Approach to:

bullet

Perform a cost benefit analysis first to determine the actual versus perceived value of the completed project to the organizations core competencies and competitive advantage.

bullet

Develop a Gantt Chart to simulate the proposed project schedule to determine the critical path elements and determine the possible points of failure to ensure the risks are known up front.

bullet

Creation of cross-functional teams to ensure all parts of the organization have the knowledge and impact to their parts of the organization to ensure the project is supported by the entire organization; i.e. Goal definition, Top Management support, User Involvement, Accurate Cost Estimates, Project Plan, and etcetera.

bullet

Utilization of process-based management (CMMI) and project control systems (risk and budget management), to ensure the project stages are achieved on-time and on budget: Initiation, Planning and Design, Closing and maintenance.
